Critical Reflection

Coming to the end of the critical thinking module, I find the sentence “ process your thought process” appearing in my mind on several occasions. Recalling back to the start of the module, where I set certain goals for myself, I find myself improving/benefiting over and above that of the standards set.

Starting with the Summary Reader Response it has equipped me with the ability to summarize long paragraphs into their main points. This new knowledge can help to extract  the essence of the proposals/documents without jeopardizing the important aspects. Moving forward is the Tech Report that requires an immense amount of teamwork, considering the hefty workload of the report, group member chemistry is extremely crucial in producing the finest Tech Report. Which helps to set the tone for future references in the workplace. Different walks of life conveys different behaviors/personality, being able to work well with them requires the ability to “process their thought process”. Utilizing their strengths and resolving their weaknesses as a team. The continuation of the Tech Report is to present a pitch to the class for the ideation/innovation that is crafted by our group members. The presentation requires the need to take physical and verbal cues, adapting to the awkwardness of standing in front of the crowd whilst vocalizing the crux of the problem statement in the presentation.

The two takeaways I wished to accomplish at the start of the module is to improve my formal presentation skills and to refine my writing skills. In the past weeks I am glad to see myself steadily improving in many aspects, though much leaves to be desired, I envision myself working to be a better writer/speaker with the new equipped critical thinking trait that is achieved in this module. For future note, I will pitch in front of my colleagues to prepare for client meetings and important pitches to superiors. This would improve my ability to take in verbal/physical cues which would be essential in day to day communication with colleagues and superiors.

Highlighting the teamwork skills in the Tech Report, I realized the different behavioral actions from teammates causes different ripples in the group. In the compilation of information in the Tech Report, I realized I am the type to do last minute work, although this might not affect me when handling individual assignments as it is still handed in within the due date. This a certain act can cause discomfort to my group as they do not know whether I have done my due diligence nor do they have said documents to work and cross-check from. I understand the importance of setting certain small deadlines within the group to assure that the group is on pace to submit. Additionally, my teammates do have their shortcomings as well. Which is why minimal standards are needed to function properly. This experience has changed my view of learning as I used to think that the majority of people work the way I do, which is being a “night owl”. I will change my mentality coming forward and aim to work within the normal working standards, this in turn will help me procreate a better working standard for myself.

In conclusion, I feel that this critical thinking module has evolved my way of thinking as this phrase “process the thought process” will forever be etched in my mind when experiencing difficulty when working with teammates and myself.
