In the present time, the majority are still using manual and paper-based methods to track sustainability performance. This could be time-consuming and prone to errors. In addition, the lack of real-time monitoring and feedback may lead to the need for updated opportunities and improvement. Hence, with the help of the app, it can provide a more efficient and accurate way of tracking progress and monitoring the sustainability performance of the project at hand (Getting more work, 2023).

1.1.5 Current Issues and Concerns on Sustainable Buildings

One primary issue faced is the land scarcity in Singapore, which makes it difficult to encompass sustainable features such as green spaces and renewable energy sources. Additionally, high construction costs have deterred many companies from their efforts to increase sustainable features. The immoderate cost of sustainable materials and technologies in Singapore is the defining factor affecting the progress toward a sustainable future for Singapore. Furthermore, the innovation of current buildings requires a hefty workload and budget that might not be efficient in influencing the Singapore government. However, this presents a remarkable opportunity to revamp the current buildings but also requires remarkable investment and planning.


1.1.6 Importance of Sustainable Projects in Singapore

Sustainable buildings can produce economic benefits for building owners and tenants through the possible lowering of operational costs. This can also generate new job opportunities in the green building industry and support Singapore’s endeavour for a low-carbon economy. Also, sustainable buildings can reduce general energy consumption and cost through the usage of renewable energy sources. Aiding to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and imported energy in Singapore.

Improvement of health benefits can also be obtained through green building features such as the incorporation of natural lighting and ventilation, which in turn enhance the well-being of occupants and visitors.

Critical Reflection

  Coming to the end of the critical thinking module, I find the sentence “ process your thought process” appearing in my mind on several occasions. Recalling back to the start of the module, where I set certain goals for myself, I find myself improving/benefiting over and above that of the standards set. Starting with the Summary Reader Response it has equipped me with the ability to summarize long paragraphs into their main points. This new knowledge can help to extract  the essence of the proposals/documents without jeopardizing the important aspects.
